The health of our donors is important to us. Once you donate blood, you will receive results showing your non-fasting total cholesterol, blood pressure, blood type, pulse and hemoglobin.
Blood pressure is the force exerted by blood against the walls of arteries as the heart pumps it around the body. It is typically expressed as two numbers: systolic pressure, which measures the pressure in the arteries when the heart beats, and diastolic pressure, which measures the pressure in the arteries when the heart rests between beats.
Consistently high blood pressure, known as hypertension, can increase the risk of serious health conditions such as heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease. Conversely, low blood pressure, or hypotension, may cause dizziness, fainting, or fatigue and can also be indicative of underlying health issues. Monitoring blood pressure regularly is essential for maintaining overall health and preventing potential complications.
